Preparation and Aftercare Guide
Preparation and Aftercare Guide
Aftercare plays a crucial role in achieving beautiful, long-lasting results from your procedure. You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions at your appointment, but I recommend reviewing them ahead of time. This way, you can plan your booking around holidays, gym sessions, or special events. Please take a moment to read through the information below so you’re fully prepared for your cosmetic tattoo experience.
-
Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment. These can increase sensitivity and bleeding, affecting the procedure and healing.
Stop certain medications and supplements (such as blood thinners, aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, or ibuprofen) at least 48 hours before your session—always consult with your healthcare provider before stopping any prescribed medications.
Avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours before your treatment. Exercise can increase blood flow and sensitivity.
Do not get a facial, chemical peel, or use retinoids or exfoliants on or near your brows for at least one week before your appointment.
Come with clean skin and no makeup on the brow area.
Discuss any medical conditions or medications with your artist before booking or attending your appointment.
-
Wash your hands thoroughly before every healing balm application.
Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours to support healing.
Change your pillowcase frequently (especially the first few nights) to lower infection risk.
Avoid direct sun exposure on your face for at least 2 weeks. Wear a hat or use an umbrella if you must go outside.
Inform your beautician about your cosmetic tattoo before any facial treatments such as microneedling, microdermabrasion, laser, or chemical peels.
Let your brows heal naturally. Do not pick at scabs or flakes; let them fall off on their own.
Do not get your brows wet! Avoid steamy showers and keep your face away from direct water for the first few days as instructed.
Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for at least 10 days.
Use only the recommended balm on your brows. Do not apply makeup, creams, lotions, or other skincare products to the brow area for at least 10 days.
Do not scrub, peel, or exfoliate your brows.
Avoid oils, retinols, or exfoliating products on your forehead and brow area from now on, as they can change the colour and blur the hairstrokes.
Do not sleep on your face or allow friction on your brows—try to sleep on your back.
Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, or spa pools for at least two weeks.
-
Avoid caffeine and alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment to help reduce sensitivity and potential bleeding.
Stop using certain medications and supplements (such as blood thinners, aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, or ibuprofen) at least 48 hours prior—always consult your healthcare provider before stopping any prescribed medication. I may ask you to provide a medical certificate for certain medications.
Avoid vitamin C serums, retinoids, glycolic acid treatments, and chemical peels for at least 2 weeks before your session.
If you have a history of cold sores, obtain antiviral medication (such as acyclovir or similar) and start taking it 3 days before your treatment and continue for 3 days after.
Come with clean lips and no lipstick or lip balm on the day of your appointment.
Stay hydrated and eat a light meal before your treatment.
Do not have any face or lip treatments (such as fillers or Botox) for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
Avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours prior to help minimise swelling and sensitivity.
Do not come if you have an active cold sore or any lip infection.

Drink through a straw for at least 4–5 days to keep lips dry and avoid irritation.
Blot your lips gently with a clean, damp cotton pad if they get wet—do not rub.
Use a cold pack to reduce swelling if needed. Please wrap it in plastic food wrap to avoid condensation getting the lips wet.
Keep your pillowcase clean and change it frequently to lower infection risk.
Use an SPF lip balm after the initial healing period to protect your pigment from fading.
Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours.
Contact your artist if you notice any signs of infection or unusual symptoms.
